January’s Major Update

Written by Adam Lacey on January 13, 2020

Welcome to 2020! I hope you have all had a chance to have a break over the holiday period and are now settling into the new year.

Here at Split Hero, we’ve been incredibly busy for the last few months and even went into overdrive over the holidays to deliver on our latest and biggest release to date. This blog post is around a week overdue but I wanted to make sure we cover everything in this update fully so without further ado, let’s jump in!

Removal of Bounce Rate

Let’s kick off by talking about something we removed. It’s not often platforms remove stuff as part of updates and it’s not something we have taken lightly but we have done so for good reason. We even polled our users in our facebook group to get their thoughts on our plans.

We’ve removed the bounce rate percentage stat in Split Hero throughout.

The reason for this is it really wasn’t a ‘true’ bounce rate. It merely calculated the percentage of visitors vs conversions and gave a percentage of people who didn’t convert. It was okay, but not great. We’ve got far better plans and ideas for a new stat which will be introduced sometime in the future. I promise this will be much better in the long run.

Now on to the good stuff…

New Campaign Setup Flow

We’ve completely revamped the campaign setup flow so it’s easier to use, easier to understand and greatly improved the user experience.

By rolling out this change it should be more self-explanatory on how Split Hero works under the hood for new users and also allows for the growth of the platform. This update makes it easier for us to implement new types of conversion goals as outlined in our roadmap as time goes on.

Whitelabel PDF Reports

As part of this update, we’ve made the small tweak of renaming ‘users’ and changing this to ‘team’. Under this new team section, you can now add your logo which will appear at the top of PDF reports you generate on completed campaigns.

Now when a campaign is complete, you can visit the ‘reports’ section on the left-hand side and then click the ‘generate report’ button next to the relevant campaign. It’s that easy!

The output PDF report will provide the stats for each variation as well as a summary of the campaign details just like the data page. Right now this is just V1 of our PDF reports. We will likely add to and improve these reports as time goes on based on user feedback.

Button Click Conversion Tracking

This is the big one you have all been waiting for – Button Clicks as a conversion goal!

Instead of selecting a page to use as a measure for conversions, you can now select one or multiple buttons on your page to use for conversions! Perfect for affiliate marketers or for those of you who link to a third party as your conversion goal. The ways to use this conversion tracking technique are endless.

We’ve made this incredibly easy to setup. As part of the campaign setup, you will be given a unique ‘class’ tied to that campaign to add to the button(s). Whatever button(s) you add this class to will be the ones that trigger conversions once clicked. Most page builders make it very easy to add a class to a button. We will be adding some basic documentation to our knowledge base for all the major page builders soon.

Conclusion

I really hope that everyone loves this update as much as we do! We are working really hard to make sure we deliver on our roadmap and listen to our users.

If you have any questions feel free to reach out to us but we look forward to hearing all your feedback on this update.
